St. George & Cedar City Trip

We went down south on the weekend when the month changed from September to October for some fun in the sun. We had been hoping to visit Aaron's grandparents for a long time and when my Mom invited us on a trip to the Shakespearian Festival in Cedar City we saw a chance to combine 2 trips into 1. Unfortunately, my doctor ordered a test that I had to go in for on the first day of our extended weekend. This test combined with the children travelling very poorly and having to stop every 45 minutes made our visit a day shorter than we had hoped with Grandma & Granddad Harris. :( It was still fantastic to get to visit with them, it's always nice to visit people that love you a lot! We celebrated our arrival even though it was 11pm and went straight to bed. We got up bright and early with the kiddos.
{It was the first time they'd met Priya in person.}
{Porter made a new best friend while we were visiting.}

We had a yummy Granola breakfast that Grandpa made. Aaron has always wanted to show me some of the church history sites down there, so we loaded up and went to see some of them. Our first stop was the Brigham Young Winter Home. We took a tour and enjoyed learning some of the history of that beautiful home. We then made another quick stop at the tabernacle where we kind of got sucked into a tour and got a bit unlucky with a long winded tour guide. Granddad finally wrapped up the tour so we could get back to Grandma and have some lunch. We all enjoyed some Domino's pizza, after which we dived into some family history together which is always fun with Grandma Harris as she is an expert! Aaron was so stoked to see his family line tie back into French Royalty! Granddad wanted to go for a walk so Aaron decided to join him. Aaron got back and told me he could barely keep up with Granddad especially in the afternoon heat.

{Doesn't that make your heart happy? Porter with his Great Grandpa. Makes my heart happy. }

{Waiting for our tour and enjoying the beautiful day!}

{I love these old stoves. My Great Grandma Max had a miniature replica of one that my siblings and I would play with for hours when we were younger.}

{I'm pretty sure Aaron's build came straight from his Grandpa Don. They look so similar to me. Two very handsome men, not to mention that stud in the middle there.}

{As we left a group of French tourists were showing up and they were gaga over Porter. They snapped his picture, held his hand, and you would have never known that Porter isn't bilingual.}

It's always sad to leave such a happy place, but we had to get to Cedar City in time for our first play, Noises Off. We met up with my family, had some dinner, handed Couper & Kaleena our car keys and the kids and wished them luck. The play was hilarious! We had a lot of fun and our tummies hurt afterwards. Aaron bought me a tart which was good but they aren't as good in the fall season; still a nice treat. I had to eat it chipmunk style because they wouldn't let me take it into the theater. We shared a hotel room with Couper and Kaleena who were such good sports about Priya waking up screaming during the night. Porter got to sleep in Grandma Nec & Grandpa Gregg's room. His Grandma spoils him whenever she can and cuddles him to sleep. Then he got to wake up to uncle Landon's face each morning. The next day we got to hang out with the family, watch conference and eat delicious food. We also got to see A Winter's Tale as well which was excellent! The next day we headed home right as the second Sunday session was starting. We were so excited we had seen the previous 3 sessions and were glad to get to listen to the last one on the radio. HA. Ha. Not so easy with kids. They did better on the way home but they still struggled. Maybe our next vehicle can have a DVD player so we can travel by car without it being so hard on the kids. As always conference was so touching. We just got our copy of the talks in the mail so we'll touch up on the last session. We didn't get a ton of photos while we were in Cedar. We were on the go a lot.

{They were wrestling and fell asleep like this.}

{Porter got to go swimming}

{Priya was fiercely jealous, as she is of most big kid things.}

{Loves & Cuddles from Grandma almost made up for not getting to swim.}

It was hard to come back to reality, especially the laundry (ugh!) but we were so grateful we got to spend the weekend with some of the people we love most! Thank you all SO much for having us and inviting us along!

I ended up with that little stove. I found one almost exactly like it at www.vermontcountrystore.com and gave it to my mom for Christmas. What a beautiful family you have!
