Phone Photo Dump

With little to report I thought I'd share some photos from my phone. As Porter grows up the photos from my phone are always blurry but I still enjoy these not so great photos, hope you do too!

{Diaper peeks make me smile}

{In true Meghann style instead of jumping right to discipline I decide to take pictures to send to P's father. Love the blur of something being thrown off the shelves.}

{"Oh dear, what have I done?"}

To go along with the discipline thing... P still loves to get into the plant but now he's responsible for helping me clean up. We keep a little hand broom and dust tray next to the plant. He loves to sweep up the dirt... so now he makes the mess because he likes helping me clean up. Makes me laugh!

I took these in sequence... you can play "Peek-A-Boo" with Daddy when he's out of town. ;)

{Happy Baby}

{Bubbles, so interesting}

Lastly, and the most recent, we were steadily working on our basement and I got tired of this big task looming so I dove right in. Our house is disheveled to say the least, but hopefully when the purge is over things will be more orderly and easier to maintain. This is fun for Porter because he loves going through all the junk we're finding.

These photos are of him sorting through my college course work. Aaron and I are both sentimental people and we both struggle with the thought of tossing all our hard work from school away. However, this time I was able to do away with all my course work with the exception of the stuff from my last year. I'm dreading going through my classroom boxes. I could stuff a small storage unit with my classroom boxes.

{"I can't believe you got an A on this...it's definitely B material! Mom, you can do better than this!}

{Right=Keep, Left=Goes}

Can I ask for some advice? I mentioned that Aaron and I are sentimental people, but I think some of it needs to go. I know we're the only people who can make those decisions, but do you have a rule you follow when it comes to those items?

Hope thinks are going well in your neck of the woods!

B-Day #28

I have the best wife in the world! She went out of her way this year to make sure I have a fun birthday, and it turned out to be a great weekend! The fun began on Thursday with a trip to Tocano's with the rest of the Gelter clan as well as my aunt Ann and uncle Randy who were visiting from New York. It was great to see them and have them finally meet Porter!

{Let the celebration begin!}

Friday morning we got up early and got to the zoo right when it opened. What a great time to go! It wasn't super hot yet, so the animals were all up and active. Usually when we go it's so hot outside that all of the animals are asleep in the shade somewhere. Porter loved it because he was able to see the moving animals. He loved talking to them and telling them about how much fun he was having!

{I had no idea there were so many animals here!}

{That monkey looks just like you, Dad!}

{I thought this was a cool picture of the tiger in the background and Porter staring him down in the reflection.}

{Those were some really big cats!}

{After about an hour and half, P decided he was done and was out in seconds.}

On the way home, Meg took me to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch! It was really tasty, especially the Dulce de Leche Caramel Cheesecake I had for dessert! As you can tell, Porter was also a fan. He reminded me of a little bird and yelled at me every time I fed myself instead of him.

{Please, Dad, oh please!}

{Let me savor it for a second.}

{Yep, that's good. More!}

{That's what I'm talking about!}

{Can I have this for lunch every day?}

Meg then took me to Lowe's to pick up another surprise - a porch swing! We've talked about buying one since we moved in but we've never gotten around to it. We're both way excited to sit out on our swing and relax in the evenings. That night the Gelter clan came over with dinner and ice cream and we all topped off the evening with some Monsters vs. Aliens.

On Saturday, I woke up at 4:15 am to start getting ready for the Deseret News 10k that started at 6:05. I walked into the bathroom to discover that Meg had left me another present! It made me so happy and I forgot that it was so early. What a great idea!

Next came the 10k (6.2 mile run). As part of our training for the 1/2 marathon in September, we decided it would be fun to do an official race and this one looked like fun. It went from research park up at the University of Utah and came down the hill and ended at Liberty Park. It was a ton of fun! The adrenaline kicked in and we all beat our goal paces by almost a full minute!

{After the race with Rachael, Karli, and Tyler}

{Apparently, watching us run wore Porter out as well!}

Saturday evening was spent back up in Kaysville for a combined birthday party for my brother Tim and me. We had lasagna and red velvet cake, which are our favorites! All I can say is I'm spoiled!

Meg and family, thanks for a great weekend! I don't need nearly that much celebrating for my birthday, but it sure was a lot of fun!

Some Photos

Not going to kid myself, this week has been rough on me. Lots of stuff all seeming to come at one, but that's all I'm going to say about that. Because it's been a little bumpy I don't have as many photos, but I have a few.

{Porter Loves Daddy}

Have I ever mentioned how connected these 2 are? This was a fact I became even more aware of when Aaron left on business and Porter's routine went out the window. Luckily, daddy is home now, YAY!!! Please, baby, back to the routine.

{Box=Fun}

{We adore this little boy!}

This week isn't over yet and we have lots of fun to look forward to still!

SAVE THE DATE TO PLAY

Okay after your responses it seems that August 7th in the morning is going to be our best bet to get together! It makes me sad that we can't find a day that works for everyone. :( Saturdays and summer time are really hard. The park Porter and I visited is in Sandy just off of State Street around 9000 south, but not exactly. If this location works for people I'll figure out the exact address. What time? 10 a.m. 11 a.m. earlier? Let me know what works.

More Evidence That He's Mine

Aaron and I are working on excavating our basement from the non-essentials that have been sitting down there for the last 2 years. Tonight Aaron found one of my treasures. My freshman year of college, my roommate and long-time friend Hilary bought me a Hokey Pokey Elmo because I wanted one SO BAD!!! I love this Elmo with every piece of my child heart. Aaron wanted to see how Porter reacted to my favorite toy and I'm so glad he recorded it!

The Petting Zoo

Daddy said he'd do this post, but blog guilt was getting to me and I just had to get some new photos of Porter up. Last Friday we went on a mini family date to the petting zoo! It wasn't exactly what I was expecting (lots of goats, which kind of make me nervous. From past experience I just expect them to head butt me at any random moment) but still lots of fun!{If I had to pick a goat to keep, however, this little spotted guy would be him.}

{No you're mistaken, this is the fastest way to chase ducks and not get dirty.}

{He really liked the chickens}

{This little Wilbur was insanely fast}

{Wilbur only slowed down to nibble on Porter's yummy foot!}

{Given loves to the pony and mini bull}

PONY RIDE!!!

{Sparky was the sweetest pony every! Isn't that a perfect pony name?}
{His cowboy face}

{Old western music plays in my head when I look at this photo}

{Yep, he liked it! We'll be going back, but probably just for the pony ride.}

DS Play Date-- Curious

Lacey has the shower this Saturday so that's not the best day. The following Saturday is the 24th and then we're busy the 31st. How do you feel about the first week in August, so the 7th?

DS Play Date

I'm wondering if we really want to have another get together. Some of you said "yes" and I'm more than happy to get the ball rolling. Here's what I had in mind: we could get together at a park, in the morning, on a Saturday, and everyone could bring muffins or your favorite packable breakfast and one person could bring drinks. Are parks too hard to keep track of kids? My next question is July or August?

What's a post without pictures? Porter's Adventures this week. Toddler+ Phone= Blurry, I still enjoy them.

Happy 4th of July

This 4th we are practicing, "il bel far niente" -- the beauty of doing nothing. :) We didn't plan anything today so we could do whatever we felt like to our enjoyment.

The morning started off with worship at church. Focusing our prayers for this family that we love so well who tragically lost a child this holiday weekend. We continue to pray for them.
We got home from church and took a nice long afternoon nap. Thanks P for deciding to cooperate and oblige Daddy's wish. After nap time I started dinner, Aunt Rach's Pork & Pineapple stir-fry. While I cooked, the boys watched Sleeping Beauty, Aaron's favorite "old" Disney movie and Porter really enjoyed it as well. He just stared at the TV during the songs, the kid loves music.

I had fun finally trying this yogurt cake 4th of July recipe I've had for a few years now. We also went on a walk with the dog.

Overall a very relaxing and happy day! We should practice this "il bel far niente" stuff more often.

{A little birdy told us Grandma Joy really enjoys videos so we put up a little clip of nothing specific for her. ;) }

Bring on the Spaniards!!

Perhaps a little un-American to post about the German National team on the 4th of July weekend, but with USA out we're feeling okay about it. If you watched the game (and I hope you did because it was that fun!) you know why we picked this photo. Semi-Finals BABY!!!

Deutschland, wir lieben dich!

Playing At The Park

Tuesday we went to the ball park and I thought P was a great sport about staying up way past bedtime. Although, he made it pretty obvious he was tired. Perfect night for a ball game.
Then yesterday between an ENT appointment and Daddy getting off work for his boys night only with P he found us this cute little park to go play at. I held Porter in my lap and we played on the swings together. He loved it, I got sick. Porter held onto my fingers and walked all over the place. It made me laugh because he wouldn't step on the little flowers that grow in clover. It's a pretty nice little park! What do you think is it a good spot for our next DS play date? I was thinking we could maybe pull off a Saturday morning before things get crazy so papa's could come. I'm antsy to see everyone again.

{clapping is serious business}

The wind got so bad branches were breaking and it toppled P right over. It was a good opportunity for teaching the sign for wind but needless to say we high tailed it back to the car ASAP. I love spending time with this kid, he makes me so happy. :)
