Hump Day Pick Me Up

This is a clip from the movie "Love Actually". I love this movie but I've only ever seen it from Clean Flicks so I will never get to see it again. :( This is after Hugh Grant the Prime Minister tells of the President of the United States. I just think he's such a sexy man, then combine that with these moves and well go ahead hit play. I bet you'll watch it more than once! ;)

We're So SPOILED

This year's Christmas was so crazy, fun, and wonderful! Aaron and I braved the worst winter storm we've ever been in together - even with living in Logan for 5 years - to get to Kaysville for Christmas Brunch. Obviously we're okay, but it was heart pounding while we were driving through a white-out blizzard. We had a great Christmas starting with my Grandma's Party on Christmas Eve. We unfortunately left our camera at my Grandma's that night so we don't have any pictures and just a few of the rest of Christmas that we took with our older camera. We're getting really bad at picture taking :(

We had our own little celebration together around our tree Christmas Morning.

I got a Blender and already had some make-up that I couldn't wait to use from a few weeks earlier. Aaron wanted to give me a surprise gift so I got Mamma Mia!!! YAY!!!

Aaron got this...spoiled. I'll be enjoying it as well, but I'm a little surprise we actually bought it. My step-dad Gregg really hooked us up with a great deal.
The best part of our morning, however, was Sydney opening his presents. I can't imagine how much fun Christmas is with kids.

Off to the Gelter's we went and each year I'm amazed at how many presents we open with them. We recieved so much! I got lots of clothes for my growing belly, Aladdin, and a Del Parson painting called, "Perfect Love." Isn't it beautiful?! It will be going in our nursery. I think it's a wonderful image for our children to see as they're growing up or to help them feel more at home having just left our Savior's presence. I'm so excited.

Right Here I just have to shout out to Emerie, hope you get here soon kiddo! There's lots of Love waiting to meet you!

Aaron also got many clothes and tools. His favorite has to be his air compressor or his hand saw, though.

After the fun at the Gelter's we were off to my parents' where we enjoyed sugar cookies and lots of good company. We also got an upright freezer. We're really excited to be able to purchase meat and frozen items from Costco and not have to worry about where to store them. We're hoping it helps out with our food storage. I'm really excited because I also think if we shop smart we can end up saving money by using this.
Last but not least. Santa brought a surprise today - a Blu-Ray player! We are truly spoiled! We're also very excited! We have been so touched by the generosity of our parents. As if they haven't already done enough for us by raising us, and putting up with our constant calls for help or advise they still spoil us rotten! We're really blessed and honestly feel that our gifts were too much! We're so grateful for all that you do for us, and especially for the love that you've given both of us. Thank You, Mom and Gregg! Thank You, Mom and Daddy Gelter!

Our Christmas Letters

These are our Christmas Eve letters we wrote for my Grandma's Christmas Party. They look back over the year and share a brief testimony. They're really similar, but I swear we wrote them at different times without talking to each other about them. They are long but I wanted to post them to share part of my family tradition with all of you.

Aaron's Letter
What a great year this has been! I finally graduated from USU with my Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. I never thought that would happen! During the last semester I interviewed at a few different places and was even offered a position in San Diego. We thought seriously about being adventurous and moving out of state, but in the end I got a better offer from my current employer and that combined with having family close won out and we're still here. We bought our first home in May and are now officially adults in the shackles of a mortgage. Our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Europe was, of course, AMAZING! We talk all the time about just packing up and moving to Germany or Italy, but there's always that pesky money problem. As soon as we got home from our trip we got our puppy, Sydney; we had dreamed about having a dog since we got married, so we're thoroughly enjoying having our first child in the home, even if he is a little furrier than most babies. The highlight of the year was finding out that we're expecting. We're so excited for June to meet our little one and become parents! The most recent development: I was called to be the ward organist this month! I don't even know how to play the organ! I guess that shows how desperate the ward is for musical talent. I'm excited for the challenge, though. We'll see how that goes.

I'm so happy to have family close that we can share our joys and sorrows with. Family is truly a blessing that I often take for granted. I'm thankful for this time of year and for the giving spirit that I see everywhere. I'm thankful for my Savior who came to this Earth to die for us. I'm especially thankful for my wife. I don't tell her enough how much she means to me. I love you, Meg!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Aaron

Meghann's Letter
This year has been filled with so many great experiences that I just feel so blessed when I think back on the year.

It started out with me struggling to finish up my first year of teaching. I made it through healthy but exhausted. Aaron graduated and life started moving after that. He received an offer for a wonderful job and has loved working for Harman Music Group ever since. We bought our first house and then ripped it apart to make it more to our liking. The remodeling experience of camping out in the basement for 3 months is actually something I look back on and laugh at. We had fun joking and laughing our way through the not so pretty situation. We were so blessed to have a chance to spend a month in Europe. It was incredible and we’ll never forget it! What fun we had together on our out-of-country adventure! I’m so glad I got to see Aaron’s mission and experience some of his 2 years of service through the people he served and the food he ate. We came home and started working hard to complete the house. After a few months of trying for a baby and nothing happening I got tired of sitting around at home and started substitute teaching. I quickly saw that my first year was like a bad nightmare and the chance was slim of something like that happening to me again. So, I started looking for a full time teaching position. I was offered a job and also found out I was expecting. We prayed and felt that teaching while pregnant was the best thing for our little family so I took the job that same day; so far so good. Aaron and I have been looking forward to having children since we were married 4 ½ years ago, so we are ecstatic to be so blessed with this pregnancy. This year Aaron has been the greatest blessing in my life. He supports me through everything. He has honored his priesthood and our lives have been blessed because of it. He loves me even when I’m difficult and make me smile when I cry. I’m so truly blessed to have him as my companion for eternity and I’m so glad we have eternity to be together.

Aaron and I are the musical team in our new ward. I lead the music and he plays the organ. Having this calling has brought the hymns into our home and helps remind us of the gospel truths we know. Here is my testimony for this year: I know my Savior Jesus Christ lived on this earth, He loved me enough to come into this world to suffer for my sins and then die that I might live with Him and my Heavenly Father again. I know that prayers are answered individually with love. I know that Joseph Smith restored the Gospel to the earth and that it is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I have a Prophet who is inspired and knows of God’s will for me. I know that if I follow Heavenly Father’s will, happiness will always be a part of my life. I know that we are never alone in this life that there is always our Savior watching over us, supporting us, and guiding us. I know these things to be true. Amen

All My Love,

Megs

One Happy Mommy

First of All...Meet our baby!!!
We had our first ultrasound today for what's called integrated screening, but instead we got a big surprise. I'm a week farther along than we thought; how that's possible I haven't the slightest. I started to ask the tech how it was possible she just said, "You chart and temps may say one thing, but your baby is telling me you're at least 14 weeks along." So I was to far to do the test but, WAHOO!!! A free week, I couldn't be more excited. I am, however, a little disappointed that I'm still sick this far along, but oh well.

This post is a little long I've had so much to say and just haven't, so sorry.

It's my turn to say something about this pregnancy thing. I've had a hard time thinking about sharing because it has felt so extremely personal and a little unreal to be honest. That is why Aaron wrote the "We're Pregnant" post. I just wasn't ready to write about it, but after today it seems real and I'm finally ready.

I've been keeping a pregnancy log on my personal blog and thought it would be fun to share some of the things I've written.

The First Month:

These last few days were the most nerve racking because I knew I would probably start my period on one of those days, if I was going to. I very well still might start, but my HOPE is through the roof. I think I'm pregnant!

I asked Aaron how he wanted to find out I was pregnant or not and he said he wanted to be right there with me. He said if it was positive he wanted to share that moment with me, and if it were negative that he want to be there to comfort me. What a great guy! So, here's to hoping!

WE'RE PREGNANT!!!

I start teaching in two weeks with my own classroom. I'm nervous. I'm thrilled. I'm questioning my strength and heart to be both a teacher and pregnant. However, the Lord has confirmed in my heart that this is the right thing to do, and that teaching is the best thing I can do for the Baby. I will be earning money that will help us create a nest egg for our little one and we'll be better prepared financially. I will be working and praying hard for balance as I take on these two new and exciting opportunities. So I look forward with Faith that my Heavenly Father is blessing my life for good. He's leading me on the path that's best for me, and I will not doubt that. I know that I will be given the strength needed to follow His will and that I will be happy in the process!

The Second Month:

How depressing! I think I might be in the early stages of a miscarriage. I am experiencing some common warning signs. I called the doctor and they agree it's very possible. They prepared me for all the things that could happen if I'm miscarry.

Dear Baby,

I can't believe you're really here. I've prayed for you, I've hoped for you, and now you're actually a part of me. I'm not perfect, but I hope you know you're in my thoughts. You are the best motivator I've ever had driving me to be better at this life. I think about you all the time, and hope that you are well. Dear One, having conceived you gives me great joy for now I know that you will always be mine. Even if you and I are not strong enough to bring you into this world, you have received a gift of an earthy body and thus are eligible for eternal glory. That idea alone is the only one that really matters. I can't wait to hold you, I hope that we are strong enough to get you here, but if not, know that I love you! If not I promise to meet you at the heavenly gates and hold you! From this point forward you will always be in my heart.

All Your Mother's Love,
Meghann

Through all of this miscarriage scare Hollie was a huge comfort to me (that's right I told her) she has a great understanding of miscarriage spiritually and helped remind me of the perspective. Spirit children, warm up pregnancy, and your body knows when something is wrong. Heavenly Father designed us that way. One more day down and we're still praying.

The Last Few Weeks:

The posts slowed way down because of school, fatigue, and life just got busy.

Aaron is the best husband ever and took me shopping tonight for maternity clothes. I'm so excited because I might actually be comfortable now!

We had our first appointment and it was awesome! I'm so glad I'm getting my care through Avenue Women's Center. They are so knowledgeable, involved, and understanding of the whole experience. I'm really looking forward to the other visits I'll be having with them. Aaron came along and we got to hear the baby's heart beat, which was a huge relief to know that everything was okay. I was freaking out so much that I didn't get to enjoy it like a good Mom. All I could think about was my fears that something had gone wrong. So the doctor had to look and me and say, "That's your baby!"

All I can think about is how in a few short months I'll have a baby to love and hold each and every day!

Music of a Memory

Thursday night we went to The Forgotten Carols with the Gelter family. As a small child I got to go with my family to see this a lot. We actually would go to a show called The Christmas Gift that had The Forgotten Carols, The Nutcracker, and Dickens' A Christmas Carol incorporated into one show. It was a really nice experience to see and hear these songs performed again.

I had a very touching moment when they sang, "He Was Here". The music stirred a memory from my childhood. I started to cry, despite my best efforts to keep it together. I remembered the way my child heart felt and the small details of the evening. The theater (Pioneer Memorial Theater...it's not there anymore), the seats on the front row of the balcony, the blue velvet wall in front of me that I couldn't see over. My Dad holding my hand and talking with me about how I could sing just as well as the little girl in the show. How I adored Dad and even as a child I cherished being with my Family. The memory of my Dad was very vivid and I'm so grateful for moments like that. I'm so grateful for the power of a melody.

Our Christmas Room

We took Tuesday off to try and catch up on the season. We were both (mostly me) feeling overwhelmed with work, the season, and well the pregnancy tired was wearing on our time. We got all our shopping done and most of the tree before I just couldn't stay awake anymore. Tonight we were able to finish up. For your viewing pleasure we present The Christmas Room.
Yep, this is our 9 foot Christmas Tree, thank you vaulted ceilings! Our biggest Christmas attempt yet (by about 6).

This shot captures the whole ambiance of the room.

These little green ornaments were Aaron favorite part of the tree this year.

I liked this picture better so we compromised and posted both.

If you followed us through Europe you might remember us mentioning buying a Pyramide in Germany. Well here it is, hand carved, and hand carried back to the USA. We love it! There will be some very strict rules around this piece for the children.

The nativity. Thanks Micah, what a great gift.

This is the huge Poinsettia my Grandma Georgia gave us for Christmas. It's beautiful!

Then this is me just messing around with the camera. Hehehe... Aaron only let me post one of the 10 :(

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Christmas Tag

1- What is your favorite Christmas song?
I don't have a favorite Christmas song, I really love most of them even if they're a little annoying because they still make it feel like Christmas time. Here are a few favorites, "It Wasn't His Child" - Trisha Yearwood, "The Gift" - Jim Brickman, and most every thing Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

2- When was your most memorable Christmas?
I can honestly say I don't have one Christmas that stands out more than the others. I just remember the way my heart feels/felt around Christmas time and how much love I feel/felt for all of my family members.

3- What is your favorite Christmas treat?
Mom's Christmas Sugar cookies! Always and forever!

4- What do you dislike most about the Christmas season?
Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with the business. With work and all the things going on after work. Parties for church, work, and family it can be a lot. But it's worth the extra effort.

5- What do you like best about the Christmas season?
The best thing about Christmas is remembering Christ with all of the people I love! One family tradition on my side is to write a letter reflecting on the year, your blessings, and your testimony. We then swap and read them together. It's very spiritual and a great time to reflect and listen to all of the blessings that have been bestowed upon us. Aaron's family is a lot of fun too, because there is still Christmas morning excitement and lots and lots of opening presents which is always fun.

6- Who is the hardest person to shop for on your Christmas list?
My parents, I can never think of anything they need or want. So they always get something sorta' lame.

7- If you could receive one gift without money being an issue, what would it be?
I know this is backwards but I would love to be able to get Aaron his dream set up for the entertainment room. He'd be so excited, and I would love it!

8- What is your idea of a perfect Christmas Eve?
I already love my family's Christmas Eve traditions, they've been a part of Christmas for as long as I can remember. My entire extended family gets together on my Mom's side and we eat hamburgers and rootbeer floats, we decorate a birthday cake for Baby Jesus while Grandpa reads us the Christmas story, then we exchange gifts, and share our letters. Inevitably there will be moments when we all burst into song. Yeah, we do that, just like those cheesy musicals we all love.

9- Which do you like best, eggnog, or hot chocolate?
Hot Chocolate

10- Do you prefer a fancy Christmas tree, or one decorated by the kids?
I like either but more on the side of fancy. That will probably change when I have children. :)

11- What is your favorite family Christmas tradition?
Christmas Letters and Christmas Morning at the Gelter's

12- Do you like fruitcake?
Nope

13- Do you prefer skiing or snowboarding?
Neither, I'm to uncoordinated for both it's really a danger to my life. So, I prefer snowmobiling.

14- Are you dreaming of a White Christmas, or do you say “Bah Humbug” to snow?
White Christmas! Why is there no snow yet?! Sorry Aaron, I would like some fluffy white stuff to go along with the season.

15- What was your favorite gift from Santa when you were a child?
Probably Samantha my American Girl doll, they discontinued her :( My shot gun, my Easy Bake Oven was a good one, and they always gave us P.J.s on Christmas Eve. I remember one year when we were really little they got us these great t-shirts that had words like NOEL in bright red and green. xoxo Mommy and Daddy

16- What is your favorite Christmas movie?
"White Christmas" but you already knew that.

17- Have you ever eaten snow?
Yep, of both varieties. Off the ground and as it falls from the sky.

18- Who do you wish could be with you this Christmas?
Dad...tears. Just one giant hug from him would be the best!

19- When do you put up your Christmas lights and decorations?
We start after Thanksgiving, it takes us a while since we can only do it after work.

20- Real or artificial Christmas tree?
Real, the smell is one of the things that makes it feel like Christmas.

That was fun! Now I tag Annelie, Emily, ShaLynn, Michelle, Jesi, and anyone who is lacking on things to post about.

We're Pregnant!

That's right, we're having a baby! Meghann is due June 21st and we're super excited! We invited my family over last week to tell them the news and they were surprised, just what we wanted!

As you can tell, Sydney is super excited, too. :)

Catching Up

This is pretty unlike me, sorry it's been so long since I posted. So lets get you in on the loop.

Lets start with the best Mom ever, mine of course! First she bought me this Wonderful Christmas Gift! WAHOO!!! I'm so excited to get to watch this movie whenever I want.
Then I got a text from my Mom this morning letting me know that she wants to go to The Nutcracker with me! I was planning on going solo, since Aaron refused to go with me. Another holiday tradition triumph, thanks to Mom.

Now Thanksgiving! We had a really fun weekend with my entire extended family down in Torrey at my grandparent's home. Here are some of the things we had fun doing. First we hung out and enjoyed the chatter while dinner was prepared. Every Thanksgiving in Torrey I like to go in the other room and just listen to the family, it makes me happy inside.Oh yeah, and I got to hang out with this perfect little man, Steadman. Thanks to his mommy for letting me cuddle with the baby.

The following day we loaded into the truck and went up on the mountain Christmas tree hunting. We had great luck this year and found some beautiful trees and lots of fun! My Uncle Kurt and Aaron were great sports and put up with 5 giggly women all morning long. It's always beautiful on "the Boulder". Here are a couple of shots from this weekend. We were so cold after Christmas tree hunting that we decided to clean up, warm up, and enjoy the remainder of the day just lounging around. Aaron was undefeated in ping pong for the duration of the weekend, and had fun being competitive.

Can you see the Rhino? It's camouflaged with all of the trees!

The next day we got up and went exploring the red cliffs around the house and spotting petrified wood. The fresh air was fun and we saw some great scientific rocks. After we headed back to the house, I was a party pooper and decided to take a nap instead of going to the annual Potter vs. Steadman shoot off. Aaron went along with the gang and apparently I married a good shot. I know it's a little old fashion, but I love that my Man can use a gun. We ended up staying up pretty late watching "Baby Mama".

We headed home that night and Aaron again proved his handiness and what a value to the family he is by being willing to drive home since Gregg and Baylee had the flu. We got home and crashed. What a great weekend!
