And the winner is...

YaY, For Trick or Treaters! This year I told Aaron I wanted to include a healthier choice in our treat bowl for Halloween.I'm happy to say our Gold Fish snack packs have beat out the chocolate bars and peanut butter cups. We've heard repeated, "Oh Gold Fish!" one little girl even ran off our porch yelling, "Mom! I got Gold Fish!" as she waved her prize over her head. I love it when kids make good choices. Guess that's the teacher in me. Happy Halloween!!!

Update

Sorry it's been a while... here's what's been going on.

-Last week was a lot of worry and stress as I tried to prepare for teaching. Aaron was so helpful and is the only reason my room was ready to go this morning.

-I made it through the first day of school with some really delightful kids. They were all scared to death so I didn't have to deal with any bad behavior today...soon enough I'm sure. They're going to be really easy in comparison to last year.

-Sydney has surgery tomorrow to be neutered. I know this is a really simple and safe procedure, but I'm still nervous.

-And of course the World Series has been consuming all other free time. We've loved cheering for the Rays... until last night that is. We're praying for a miracle tonight.

Sorry this list isn't more exciting, but now you know why there hasn't been much posted lately- I'm working really hard to try to have a wonderful school year. I'm so excited to be teaching again! Although, I was so nervous this morning that this is how I felt:.

I have to thank Brooke for posting this on her blog, I never would have known. I screamed like a teenager as soon as I finished watching it. I'm so excited!

The Perks of Puppy Puberty

We read that around 5-6 months old puppies hit puberty and go into their "rebellious phase". That's an understatement if I've ever heard one! Sydney has decided lately that he's going to do his own thing no matter what we want. We left him alone for about 10 minutes while we were doing finances and here's what we found when Meg went to check on him. I knew something was wrong when I heard her yell "I'm going to kill the dog if you don't come restrain me!".

Sydney knew instantly he was in trouble and ran under the couch with his tail under his legs. He sat there and pouted while we cleaned it up and Meg scolded him. I guess time will tell if he learns from this experience. It made us mad, but made us laugh at the same time!

Back to School

That's right, I'm a teacher again. I started substitute teaching and the principal at the school where I had a long term job talked me into filling out an application for full time. A week later I had a job offer. Aaron and I have prayed about this and even visited the temple to help us decide what to do. I really feel like this is the right thing to do, and Aaron agrees with me. I will start teaching in 2 weeks. I'll be teaching 2nd grade and I'll have around 16 kids! That's half the size of my class last year. The school population is high risk so these kids will need lost of love and help. They told me I will have tough days but, it's a great opportunity to make a difference in a child's life. If you don't mind, please, send a few prayers my way. I'm excited, but a little nervous.

Sydney is a Graduate!

Tonight was our last night of puppy kindergarten with Sydney. We were actually really nervous about whether he would graduate or not because he gets super excited whenever he's around other dogs and doesn't want to pay attention to us. He learned lots of new things in the class, but in order to graduate he had to:

1. drop the toy he was playing with and look at us
2. sit and stay until released
3. lay down and stay until released

Much to our excitement, he did AMAZING! We are so proud of him! He's such a good dog and is so much fun to have around. Anyways, here are a few pictures we took tonight...

Sydney has had another growth spurt and has gotten taller, something he hasn't done until now. Well today when I left him in the bathroom it was puppy proof: toilet paper on the counter, garbage on the counter. But when I got home the TP had been ripped into the tiniest pieces yet and oh the garbage was everywhere. So what's your guess, how did he do it?

Run, Fatboy, Run!

I saw this preview and made Aaron skip this movie to the top of our Netflix list. First a little disclaimer before I recommend this movie, there were some gross parts in this movie, that totally made me laugh. I recommend this movie for anyone that enjoys Dark British Comedy. There's a blister popping scene, and if you can take that you're good. I had to cover my eyes, but I still laughed.

Digital Scrapbooking

I like to scrapbook, but I think digital scrapbooking would be so much more fun. So I'm asking, Does anyone know how to learn about this? Where to start? Where to take a class or something?

Faith of Our Fathers

While Aaron and I were dating we'd have scripture study together each night...well most nights. One night I was explaining to Aaron that I am a direct descendant of John Johnson. John is most known for opening his home to the Prophet Joseph Smith and because several revelations in D&C took place at his home. Many people visit the Johnson Farm while exploring church history in Ohio.
Aaron was quick to tell me he is a direct descendant of Emer Harris, who is Martin Harris' brother, one of the three witnesses of the Book of Mormon. Aaron and I some times get an overwhelming feeling that part of the reason we ended up together is because of our heritage and the Lord's promise to bless the posterity of the faithful. We are so blessed to have been raised in such great faith!
